Profiles in Leadership— Tom DiAngelis

Posted on: in [ Profiles in Leadership ]

It’s time for another Profiles in Leadership! Steve Anderson, PT, DPT, sits down with Tom DiAngelis, PT, DPT.

Tom graduated with a BS in physical therapy from Northeastern University in 1981, and received his doctorate in physical therapy from A.T. Still University in 2010. He is the owner of Orthosport Physical Therapy in Lynnwood, WA.

He was the director of rehab services at the University of Cincinnati Hospitals before founding Comprehensive Physical Therapy Center with a partner in 1988. Tom went on to purchase Orthosport in 2013 from an old college mentor when he moved to Washington State.

Tom has held various roles within the APTA since 1984, including as a trustee and chair of the organization’s political action committee. He served on the PPS government affairs committee and on the PPS board of directors as vice president and later president. In 2008, he provided testimony before Congress regarding impending cuts to physician fee schedule and sustainable growth rate.

Today’s conversation includes:

  • Impact of regulation on how successful a PPS can be.
  • Difference in patients and practices by region.
  • Benefits of collaborating with other practices in your area.
  • What he foresees happening to private practice in the next 10 years.
  • How leadership styles evolve throughout the years.
  • The importance of listening and observing early on as a leader.
  • The benefits of giving back to professional organizations.
  • Common mistakes when it comes to elevating leaders.

Thank you for tuning into this segment of Profiles in Leadership!
